Nestled in the picturesque embrace of Dalarna, where the clear waters of Siljan mirror the sky, lies Geopark Siljan – a living testament to Earth's multi-million-year history and incredible events. This is a place where time has been twisted and turned, and where the landscape bears clear traces of a monumental cosmic collision that occurred approximately 377 million years ago. A gigantic meteorite struck with such force that it not only reshaped the topography but also created the almost perfect circle we know today as the Siljan region. This ancient crater rim, with its characteristic edge stretching north of Rättvik, is a spectacular feature of the landscape and a constant reminder of the immense forces of the universe.
